Manufacturer Description

This Apollo Valve 10-600 series hot water relief valve safeguards versus excessive water pressure due to failure of controls to control BTU input. It has a bronze body, a 100 pounds per square inch (psi) relief pressure, and a 3/4" female National Pipe Thread (NPT) inlet connection and 1" female NPT outlet. The valve's body and spring cage are bronze for resistance to deterioration. The seat is silicone for resistance to heats and is raised for draining water far from the seat area. The spring is steel for resistance to deterioration, and a fabric-reinforced, molded EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) diaphragm isolates the spring from water at all times. The valve can be used in operating temperatures as much as 250 degrees F. This relief valve is American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) safety rated for Area IV heating boilers and is suitable for hot water heating boilers and hot water supply systems.

Relief valves eliminate excess pressure or vacuum from a system. The valve openings allow fluids or gases to leave to reduce pressure, and then close once the valve reaches the reseating pressure restriction. They also alleviate excess vacuum by opening to launch a gas into the system and then closing after it reaches its low-pressure restriction. Some relief valves have an adjustment system to set the pressure where the valve opens, making it suitable for various applications. Relief valves are rated according to the volume of liquid or gas that can stream with them and the product that the valve is constructed from should be suitable for the fluid or gas, which could be destructive or at a severe temperature level, where it operates. Relief valves are used in a range of applications, such as air compressors, petrochemical and chemical production, natural gas processing, and power generation.

Apollo Valves makes ball, mixing, and relief valves, actuators, water assesses, marine fittings, heating and plumbing items, and backflow avoidance. The company, founded in 1928 and headquartered in Matthews, NC, satisfies worldwide basic International Company for Standardization (ISO)/ IEC basic 17025:2005.
