For this price, the Hayward PVC Ball Valve, Two Piece, True Union, EPDM Seal, 1/2" Socket/Threaded comes highly respected and is a regular choice amongst many people. Hayward have added some nice touches and this equals great value for money.
This Hayward PVC sphere valve is made from PVC (polyvinyl chloride) for less weight than metals and has complete port flow for higher operating efficiency than standard port. This two-piece valve has real union construction for in-place valve replacement, EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) O-rings for enhanced water resistance, and PTFE (polytetrafluoroethylene) seats for resistance to chemicals, moisture, and high temperatures. This inline valve has a 1/2" socket weld connection option to enable a smooth bore and much better fluid flow, and a female threaded option for connecting to male threaded pipeline fittings. It is pressure rated to 235 pounds per inch (psi) at an operating temperature level variety of 32 to 190 degrees F, and fulfills NSF International/American National Standards Institute (NSF/ANSI) 61 requirements for safe and clean water use. This complete port sphere valve is appropriate for use in water and wastewater treatments, chemical processing, agriculture, and food and drink markets.
Ball valves utilize a round disc to manage the flow between pipelines, tubes, or hoses. Flow is allowed when the hole that pierces the ball-shaped disc is in line with the inlet and outlet of the valve and is blocked when the sphere is horizontally swiveled 90 degrees, so that the hole of the sphere is perpendicular to the opening of the valve. Ball valves can be described as complete port or reduced port (also known as routine or standard port) relying on the inner diameter or the valve. A ball valve is complete port if the hole of the sphere is the very same size as the inner diameter of the connecting pipeline (leading to lower friction) and called reduced port if the hole of the valve is one pipeline size smaller sized than the pipeline, leading to less flow through the valve than through the shaft of the pipeline. Ball valves may have a deal with or lever that aligns with the sphere's position (open or closed) for manual operation. They are mainly used in air, gas, liquid, and steam applications.
Hayward manufactures thermoplastic valves and process control items for industrial applications. The company, started in 1923 and headquartered in Elizabeth, NJ, fulfills International Company for Standardization (ISO) standard 9001:2008.
