Manufacturer Description

Gate valves regulate flow in a piping system by raising a gate from the path of steam, fluids, or gases. They are developed to block or allow flow, as the vibrations and force of flow consistently striking a partly reduced gate can harm the gate and seats. To accommodate various flows and pressure requirements, gates can be found in 4 types: strong wedge (suitable for nearly all liquid service), flexible wedge (suitable for steam service), split wedge (suitable for typical temperature, non-condensing gas and liquid service, consisting of destructive service), and parallel disc (suitable for high and low pressure applications). Hand wheels or levers activate the screw system in the valve's bonnet, which comes in various designs, to open and close the gate. Union bonnets are more suitable for building service piping, threaded-in (or screw-in) bonnets work well for lighter-duty use, and bolted body-bonnet connections are utilized primarily in iron multi-turn valves. The majority of gate valves have either an increasing stem, which moves up and down with the gate, or a non-rising stem, which continues to be fixed in location. When closed, the gate and its seats form tight planar sealing surface areas, ideal for linear liquid flow. Gate valves are utilized in air, gas, liquid, and steam applications.Valterra Products manufactures and disperses valves, hoses, sewer systems, and swimming pool and medspa items. The company, started in 1981, is headquartered in Objective Hills, CA.
